Spring Cleaning for Life
by DeLores Pressley

Spring is in the air-don't you just love it! This time of year always gives me the feeling that everything is bright and clean, new and fresh. A time for weeding out the garden and a time for doing some extra housecleaning. I love the thought of opening the windows to let the sunshine in and feel the gentle breeze freshen the air with the sweet smell of spring. Wow--what a rush this can be!

With that feeling in mind it's also a time when I reflect on life. I ask myself if maybe I need to do a little weeding out and some spring cleaning in my life. I encourage you to do the same. This is the time to be totally honest with yourself. Are you living the kind of life you want to be living? You know the life I'm talking about. The one you dreamed of as a little girl, the one you bragged about to your girlfriends during a Saturday night sleepover. Yeah, that's the life I'm meant! If you're not living this life it's time to ask yourself why. What is it that's standing in the way? It is said we only have one life to live, and it's a short one, so why not live it to the fullest. Are you getting the most out of life? What changes might you need to make in order to live the life you dreamed of and bragged about when you were growing up? There are many who will proudly say 'yes, I'm living the life I always dreamed of'. Good for you! For those that can't truly say that, let's identify some things you may need to weed out or just clean up in your garden of life.

Attitude - do you let everything get you down?

Negativity- are you associating with people who bring you down?

Temptation - do you find yourself giving in to temptations?

Career - are you in a job you find very satisfying and you love going to work everyday?

Relationships - are you in a relationship you really don't want to be in?

Stress - do you constantly worry about things you cannot control?

Once our garden is weed free then we can begin planting new seeds. Seeds we will nurture and grow over time. What new seeds can you plant that will bring happiness and satisfaction in your life?

Happiness - I greet everyone I see with a smile.

Confidence - I love who I am and it shows.

Optimism - I have a positive outlook on life.

Acceptance - I'm willing to accept the necessary changes in my life.

Career - I love my job and can't wait to get started everyday.

Family - I spend quality time with my family and they fulfill my life.

It's up to you what you do with your life. Pick out the weeds and start planting those new seeds. When you're done, clean your windows so you can clearly see what a difference these changes can make for you. Let your life shine through and soon others will see you as the gentle breeze that has touched their life.
